My customers frequently ask me "which inkjet printer is the best to choose?" The leading manufacturers for inkjet and laser printers are Hewlett Packard, Epson, Canon, Brother, Lexmark, and Dell.
Here are various pros and cons of some of them:
Hewlett Packard - there is a reason that this name is synonymous with inkjet printers, laser printers and inkjet cartridges in general. HP has long been the leader of the printing industry in terms of magnitude and selection of their printers and inkjet cartridges. But just because HP is the biggest does not mean they are the best.
HP is very slow to adapt the policy of the individual inkjet cartridges for each colour for their printers. They just recently introduced it on some of their Photosmart printers but at the same time, HP has also been decreasing the amount of ink in their inkjet cartridges. Their previous printer cartridges held anywhere from 20-40 ml of ink, while their newest cartridges like HP No.02 holds less than 5 ml in colour cartridges or the No.21 holds 5 ml and No.22 holds 5 ml for all three colours which gives you about 1.66 ml per colour.
The cost of printing can still be reduced for HP users who do their own refilling, but it will mean more frequent refills. So, as a trade-off for a vast selection and other benefits, you must consider the long-term costs of operating an HP printer before purchasing.
Canon – has the longest history of single colour cartridges going back to the BJC-600 printers. Single colour cartridges have grown in popularity from both an environmental and an economical standpoint, people like the idea of just replacing one individual colour when it runs out of ink instead of having to buy a whole new cartridge. Until now they were the easiest to refill but Canon followed the footsteps of Epson and installed microchips on their latest PGI-5 and CLI-8 inkjet cartridges, send me an email and I'll send you an information how to change your printer setup after you install the refilled cartridge.
Epson - has a wide range of single colour cartridges but all the new ones with microchips. They are the hardest to refill because the microchip needs resetting after every refill, otherwise printer won’t work. Thanks to popularity of Epson printers there is a wide selection for compatible Epson ink cartridge at very reasonable price compare to the original cartridges.
The worst deals have users of the Dell printers. Not only they can’t purchase compatible cartridges (some compatible are available now) for their printers but are also restricted from shopping around for the better price for their genuine cartridges. Original inkjet cartridges for the Dell printers can only be purchased directly from the Dell. We stock now compatible dell 720 printer ink cartridge and dell A920 printer ink cartridge as well as a good quality ink jet cartridge refills available for these cartridges and so far Dell isn’t using microchips on their cartridges yet.
