Common printer problems by Larry Reid

by Larry Reid

It can be a frustrating experience when during printing the printer starts developing problems and even stops printing.

Although on rare occasions some problems cannot be rectified without professional help, often many printer issues can be resolved quickly and easily within the office environment; many printer problems though not all, can be traced back to ink cartridges and can be easily resolved.

Some of the most common, easily resolved printer difficulties can be:

Paper jams are extremely common and can be quickly resolved. It is usually safer to first switch off the printer before removing the paper drawer. By removing any creased or torn paper, the problem can normally be settled but if not, opening other printer doors which lead to the mechanisms can also lead to other jammed sheets of paper which should be removed. It can also help to flick through piles of paper before adding them to the drawer.

If the printer simply does not respond to a print command from a personal computer, it may be worthwhile checking to ensure that all USB cables are fully inserted and are in the correct plugs.

Another common issue is that often, whilst printing, the print quality can start to fade and lines and smears in the ink can occur. In these cases it is generally the case that the ink cartridge needs replacing as all of the ink has been used. This is a straightforward process and ink cartridge manufacturers must be followed in order to correctly replace these cartridges.

Often, lines and smudges can mean that the ink is not being dispensed sufficiently to the printer heads. A quick clean with a cleaning cartridge can usually resolve this issue fairly quickly.

At Internet-Ink we can supply a range of printer ink, ink cartridges and other toner cartridges which can help keep any printer in tip top condition and fully operational.
